On September 20th Calleigh saw her GI doc and the Geneticist. Here are the updates:
15 lbs 2 oz and 28 inches
GI: Dr. Mendez is not completely satisfied with Calleigh's weight gain. She has not gained much since the last time we saw her, so we have implemented a change to her feeding plan. We are to feed her whatever she will take by mouth during the day and at night we will tube feed her for 9 hours instead of 8 and at the rate of 50 ml/hr instead of 45. This is a huge change for her little tummy, but we are going to do our best. We go back to see Dr. Mendez in two months.
GENETICS: Dr. McLean is one of the smartest men that we have ever met. He has experienced some wonderful things in his life and has actually met Dr. Carey who is one of the leading doctors of 4p- research! We were intrigued by our visit this time because he is so full of information about how genetics work. Back in May he ordered a blood test to see EXACTLY how much of the 4p that Cal was missing and how much the 8th chromosome duplicated itself. He had given us an estimation of want they thought from initial testing, but this recent test shows that even less than they originally thought is missing/duplicated! As he says, it is still a significant deletion/duplication but know we really don't know where the road will take us! It was a great appointment and we will return to see Dr. McLean in January!
